Midterm Essay 2 Methods of inquiry in Criminal Investigation are who, what, when, where, why, and how. These are questions that an investigator will ask when going over a crime scene or when interrogating a suspect. Investigators often begin their investigation with a question about what happened. There are several ways an investigator can go about answering these questions. These methods of inquiry are used by investigators to gather evidence and interrogate suspects and witnesses. The mindset of an investigator should be open at all times. A good investigator will be real intelligent and have good observation and memory function. Curiosity, imagination, honesty and courage to withstand temptation and corruption are vital qualities in an investigator. Also, a good education has proved that educated people make better law enforcement officers. The scientific method is a way to ask a question and answer it by observations and doing
