Otherwise, you may drop your homework to the homework-collection box (marked as “UGEB 2401B”) in room SC 213 (physics laboratory) by 5 pm the same day. 3. Typing is not necessary. 4. If you are not asked to explain the answer, you need not give any explanation. 5. You may answer in English or Chinese. Problems: 1. (10 marks) Read the subsection “ THE GREAT CHAIN OF ORIGINS ” on pp.407-409 of the textbook (also available from the course website). You may not understand all the technical terms. Please do not mind, just skip the difficult parts. Answer the following questions: (a) The passing star hypothesis was found to contain serious flaws. What were they?
