ITP 125 Lab 1: VMWare Introduction Due: 9/10/2010 11:59:59 Overview In this lab, students will be introduced to the basics of VMWare Workstation, which will be utilized heavily in this class. Students will practice creating a variety of VMs with a few different Operating Systems. Instructions Creating a New Virtual Machine 1. Launch VMWare Workstation by going to Start-->VMWare--> VMWare Workstation 2. Create a new Virtual Machine by going to File-->New-->Virtual Machine (CTRL-N) 3. Select Typical, and select Next 4. When it asks for the Guest Operating System, select "Installer Disc Image File", and browse to C:\ITP125\Windows XP SP0.iso (or the equivalent file name). Select Next.

5. VMWare should use the Easy Install process. It will ask for the product key and the personalization options. I will give the CD Key in class to use. Enter in "ITP125 XP" for the full name. Leave the password blank. Select Next 6. For the virtual machine name, call it "Windows XP SP0". Select Next 7. For the disk size, enter 8. Hit Next.
