Assignment 1 Theories/Concepts in Child Psychology The purpose of this essay is two-fold. First, this assignment will assess your understanding regarding an issue discussed during the first part of this course. Second, this assignment will assess whether you can identify the author’s argument within a journal article of your choice. Pretend that the following has happened to you: Your classmate in Psy 350 feels that journal articles do not contain useful information. Your task is to prove to your classmate that he or she is wrong. In order to do this, you will have to find an article on an issue related to class material (e.g., teratogens) in a peer-edited journal, such as Child Development, and write a short essay (approx. 3-5 typed pages, double-spaced, 12 pt. font, 1 in. margins, & typed) illustrating how the article you found relates to a theory or concept discussed in class and identifying the
