Display Options We only print (plot) in black and white.  However, if you  want to change the background color, length of crosshairs,  etc., Right click   anywhere on drawing Select Options Dialog box appears Select Display To change drawing background Select Colors and modify as desired. To change crosshair size Resize crosshairs as desired.

Status line at the bottom Line command is like a play-by-play of your drawing.  The status line at the bottom of the display tells you whether any of  the modes are on or off. The “pressed” modes are on. (SNAP, GRID, POLAR, LWT and  MODEL in the picture below)

Grid and Snap Grid is just a visual aid for your drawing and does  not print out on your drawing. Snap allows you to specify precise coordinates  when using the mouse. Ortho will only allow you to draw in vertical or  horizontal direction. Suggest you leave GRID on all the time.
