KCL and KVL KCL and KVL remain valid for time-varying currents and voltages and for all the time ; When C and L are involved, the KCL and KVL equations become differential equations or integral equations; To determine currents and voltages, we need to solve the differential equations, or integral equations, with appropriate initial conditions ; The initial conditions are that the inductor currents and capacitor voltages can’t jump abruptly (i.e. the continuity properties of inductors and capacitors).
