Tips for the Final Review homework problems TAs do a good job explaining how to solve homework problems in detail. If you are comfortable in solving all the homework problems, you will be able to solve all the exam problems, in principle . Exam problems are similar but simpler than homework problems. “I can do all the homework problems, why didn’t I get 100 points out of 100? In fact, much lower than I thought?” You have only 120 minutes to solve 24(25) problems ! Speed is important! Only way to improve your speed is practice !
Some Tips for the Final SSS does not die out as in transient analysis Need to identify first whether the problem is SSS or transient analysis (usually obvious). A question typically has two “twists”. If you just used Ohm’s law for a resistor, then the results you obtain usually is not correct (except the first several questions in the final). There is another “twist”, either KCL/KVL, or source transformation, etc. needs to be applied. Understand the solution ≠ full points in exams! You need to be able to solve a similar question in 4.8 minutes (outside an exam) This is the rule-of-thumb that you “understand” a question and can now proceed to a different question.
