Title: Osmosis Purpose: The Osmosis Lab was designed to allow us, as students, to view the transferring energy of molecules; by a raisin or grape increasing or decreasing in size depending on a strictly water solution or a water and salt mixed solution showed us the affects that salt can have on extracting liquid. Procedure: 1) Experiment: Osmosis i) Materials (1) Grapes, unblemished (2) Raisins, larger is better (3) water (4) salt (5) four small containers, such as glasses (6) a metric ruler ii) Methods (1) Place 1 cup (236 mL) of water in each of the four containers. (2) In two of the containers, add 1 tablespoon (14.8 mL) of table salt and mix well. (3) Measure the length and width a raisin and place it in one of the plain water containers. Measure the length and width of a second raisin and place it in one of the salt water containers. (4) Measure the length and width of a grape and place it in the second of the plain water containers.
