Lab 5A – Reconstruction of Sediment Transporting Conditions in Waller Creek For this lab you will make a set of observations intended to constrain the sediment-transporting conditions at Waller Creek during its last large flood. The field site is located behind the Etter- Harbin Alumni Center, directly downstream from the stone-arch bridge crossing the creek. Figure 1 shows the study area for the lab. Figure 1. View of Waller Creek looking downstream from the stone-arch bridge. The location of the sand deposit is circumscribed by the dashed line. The gravel is to the right of the sand deposit. You will be looking at the composition of three deposits at the bank and bed of the creek; a sand deposit (Fig. 1 & 2), typical gravel (Fig. 3), and a very large boulder (Fig. 4). To estimate the sediment-transporting conditions in the creek during the last large flood you must answer the following questions. 1.
