Week 3 – Meal Planning “Knife Skills Do’s and Don’ts” Don’t use a dull knife to cut a product. *A sharp knife uses less force *Use sharpening steel when needed Don’t grab just any knife for the job.  Don’t sharpen on anything that is not intended for that purpose. *It can extend the life of a knife Don’t lose focus on what you’re cutting; we don’t want any unwanted accidents. Don’t use a knife on anything but food; you should treat the knife with respect. Don’t carelessly walk around with your knife hanging in the air; always walk with the  knife on your side, with the tip pointing down.   Don’t hone your knife just anywhere. Don’t reach for a knife anywhere where you can’t see it. Immediately sanitize your knives after use, especially if it was used to cut meat, this can  prevent cross-contamination to clean directly after use. Don’t pass your knife carelessly to other people.
