Suggestions for Writing the Rhetorical Analysis Creating a Thesis Narrow your analysis—choose  2 or 3 tools and show how they create  1 or 2 appeals  (ethos, pathos, or logos). Focus throughout the paper  on how these tools and the appeals they are creating  affect the audience  in one or two specific  ways. Your thesis (one or two sentences) should include a list of the tools you will look at and the  appeal that they collectively create; it should also indicate what effect these strategies have on  the audience.
