Kilie Rainey Mrs. Marler 1/27/2011 In-Class Essay Putting Yourself in a Better Light The truth is simple as we know it, yet a complex word. It can be stretched, and torn in different directions. Like the game of telephone, where one person hears word of truth and continues to pass it on to the next person, then to the next person. The pattern continues itself until the initial statement is far from “so-called” truth. For example, if I tell a friend that I am pregnant and at high risk of losing the child because of a history of miscarriages and she tells another person and then they tell another person, by the time it finally gets back to me, people are worried I am going to die because I have a disease and cant keep the baby. Similar to my “telephone” example is the novel, “Nothing but the Truth” by Avi. When a simple truth from a boy named Phillip Malloy was told to the media. The truth was Phillip had been suspended from school for humming the national anthem and could not show his patriotism. There were many stories
