To: Dr. Myrna Marler From: Kilie Rainey Date: Feb. 2, 2011 Re: Topic Proposal Topic: What is Mononucleosis (“The Kissing Disease”) and How does it affect a students life? Possible Thesis Statement: Mononucleosis also known as the “Kissing Disease” is a viral infection that if serious enough of a case, could highly affect a students performance in school, sports, and family/social life due to its symptoms like: chronic fatigue, fever, sore throat, red rash, sore muscles, and loss of appetite, swollen spleen, and also considering that if this disease is obtained in ones body, the immune system is severely compromised, therefore precautions should be taken. The topic of this disease known as Mononucleosis and if it affects a students life is one I have chosen to do more research on because I find it an interesting subject. I have dealt with this virus personally myself in certain cases deal with my own body, and also my husbands. I stand strongly by the topic affecting a students life in a negative aspect because of experience, however I would like to do more research and find more cases of the disease, also explore the different treatment options. As a result of my research, I plan to explore the following questions:
