17:01 HARDBALL – he’ll describe situation, we say Hardball would call that  ___(lesson)_____; other aspect Chapter 1– getting ahead is getting to know people LBJ makes effort to get to know aides and is elected President of their  group; gives “Johnson Treatment” Chapter 2- all politics is local (find out what someone cares about) o FDR and Joe Kennedy Chapter 3- it’s better to receive than to give o in 1976 election, Jimmy Carter slept in people’s homes  Chapter 4- dance with the one who brung ya o loyalty is everything o dole out benefits slowly, injurious things quickly Chapter 5- keep your enemies in front of you o don’t shun opponents, you’ll need them one day Chapter 6- don’t get mad, don’t get even—get ahead o accumulate power and the opportunity for power will fall on your plate Chapter 7- leave no shot unanswered o people believe if you don’t respond, it must be true
