Anthony Ferreira Dr. Amanda Gradisek English 101 TuThur 10:30a.m. September 26, 2010 Axe Commercial Analysis Commercials and advertisements make assumptions about their consumers and their products with the intention that they will sell their product more often. The company Axe makes hygiene products for men, and advertises them relying on the stereotypes of men. One Axe commercial shows several women searching for a boy with dirty hair. They do this by sending a pig, an animal known to be dirty, to search by scent to find a boy with dirty hair. When the pig finds a boy the girls immediately wash his hair with Axe shampoo and he instantly becomes attractive. This axe commercial uses generalizations of males, including false interpretations that all men need and want to be attractive to females. Axe strategically aired the commercial during a Sunday football broadcast. The audience Axe intends to attract are young, single men.
