Anthony Ferreira Dr. Amanda Gradisek English 101 TuThur 10:30a.m. September 22, 2010 “Excuse Me While I Explode: My Mother, Myself My Anger” When growing up children do not realize how hard their parents work to keep the house and income operating efficiently. As they grow up they start to notice the little things that their parents do and notice which kind of work each person does. The type of work each parent does can be completely different, and in the short essay “Excuse Me While I Explode”, E. S. Maduro shows how important each parent’s role plays to contribute to the family, and although the mother’s role in life seems endless, a sense of accomplishment can come out of all the hard work. When the narrator is growing up she realizes how much work her mother does around the house. She understands her father does the more masculine work, but she doesn’t understand how her mother can go day after day doing everything around the house.
