Determination of molar mass of the cobalt compound 1. 0.15g of the standard and the unknown are weighed and placed in separate 250mL Erlenmeyer flasks. 2. 0.2g of oxalic acid, 2 boiling beads and 10mL of 3M H2SO4 are added to each flask. 3. They are boiled in a fume hood until the foaming produced has subsided. 4. The flasks are cooled on benchtop, and when the SO3 fumes subside, 0.2g of oxalic acid is added to each flask. The inside walls of the flasks are rinsed with a small amount of DI water. 5. The solutions are boiled and heated until the foaming subsides. The solution should be lavender. 6. The solutions are cooled under the hood.
