Unequal  amount and degree of suffering - Amount of evil is more than necessary to preserve free will - Severity of evil is more than necessary to preserve free will  Atheist standard: Opponent – Happiness = pursuit of pleasure and the avoidance of pain (suffering) is final end Utilitarian Stump standard: Union with God (love relationship) is humanity’s final end Additional Christian First Principles: 1) 3 omni’s 2) God is just 3) God is no respecter of persons 4) Evil occurs  5) Union with God is happiness   (Stump gets from Aquinas) People are given free will to be united with God
