Contractile Unit: Sarcomere muscle gets shorter because the thick and thin filaments slide past each other **Contraction requires that actin and myosin to interact Sites of Interaction: Cross Bridges each myosin head contains and ATP-binding site which functions as an ATPase ATP is hydrolyzed to ADP and P with stored energy It moves, they slide, and then release Process of contraction: myosin head + ATP + P (not associated) interact the hydrolysis products are released-this makes them slide which causes the contraction
