BUS 315-004: Instructor: K. Skylar Powell Ch. 7: Decision Making Objectives: The objectives for our classes on Feb. 16 th and 18 th are to 1) review some of the issues associated with managerial decision making (ethical decision making, the use of analytics, etc…), 2) learn the different types of managerial decision making, and 3) consider some of the issues associated with group decision making. Assignments: At the end of class on the 16 th , groups will have an opportunity to meet up and discuss their business plans. I will also ask each group to submit their decision of the type of business they plan on creating the business plan for. Outline of Slides/Study Guide: Group warm-up question: With a partner, identify one major decision that many people have to consider/make in their lifetimes (buy a car, have kids, attend university, etc…). After you have identified the decision area, work with your partner to come up with a list of factors that would influence your decision. 1. Ch.7: Decision Making a. Decision Making: The process of identifying and choosing alternative courses of action. b. Decision making styles: reflect the combination of how an individual perceives and responds to information. This includes their “Tolerance for Ambiguity” and “Value Orientation.” (What is your decision making style?)
