Integrated Science: Physics Chapter 15 terms pg. 344 1. Active transport- Energy- requiring movement of molecules across the cell membrane. 2. Aerobic- (know the difference between aerobic and anaerobic)- Refers to a cellular process that uses oxygen. 3. Anaerobic- Refers to a cellular process that does not use oxygen. 4. ATP- Adenosine triphosphate, the basic energy molecule used in cellular processes. 5. Cell membrane- The membrane that separates the inside of the cell from the outside. 6. Chromosomes- The DNA- containing structures found in eukaryotic and prokaryotic cells. 7. Cytoplasm- The contents of a cell, excluding the nucleus. 8. Eukaryotes- Organisms whose cells have a true nucleus, including protists, animals, plants, and fungi. 9. Mitochondria- Eukaryotic organelles that break down organic molecules to obtain ATP. 10. Organelles- Structures in the cytoplasm of eukaryotic cells that perform specific functions for the cell. 11.
