Know the difference between mechanical and sedimentary rocks Metamorphic rocks must know differentiate between metamorphic and sedimentary rocks. Know difference between regional and contact. Know if they are foliated or non-foliated. Pre curser rocks… Foliated rocks have layers. It’s not due to deposition though foliated is because it was heated and the minerals spread out and all the parts aggregated together. Metamorphic rocks- 1. Purplish/brown different color shades. Crystallized (on last test) Not foliated . Quartzite . 2. Foliated black gray lines. Cool looking. Gneiss 3. White crystals. Not Foliated. Marble 4. Gray big dots that look like they’re formed on the rock like other small rocks. Glittery looking when you turn it. Foliated. Schist Stratum- single layer of earths crust Strata- two or more layers of earths crust Stratafication- two of more layered. Sedimentary: Stino came up with these four things. 1. Stino- person.
