Theories of the origin of life on earth 1. Primordian (Ancient) Soup- no living things on the land to slow erosion rates. So rain would fall and erode the land vey quickly. There was a lot more volcanic activity then today bring a lot more chemicals into the ocean. Large amounts of volcanic ash generate large lightening strikes. So they referred to the earth’s ocean as a soup because it was hot and had many chemicals floating in it. Eventually some of these molecules will float together and make amino acids. Then giving more time some of these amino acids will come together and make DNA models and you’re on your way to living things. However there is no proof that this ever happened. 2. Deep Sea Vent Theory- deep trenches in the oceans. This is where earth’s crust was pulled down into earth’s mantle. There was lava deep in these vents and the lava would rise and dump these minerals on the vents. Dissolved chemicals on vents… They think life originated on these deep-sea vents. 3.
