CLCS 335 Lecture 11/05/08 Trojan War  Achilles's divine armor- who gets it  story begins with the Judgment of Paris  story ends with Judgment of Arms  Aias/Ajax vs. Odysseus  Ajax committed to getting kleos  Odysseus not interested kleos, more interested in getting the job done  committed to nostos  i.e. homecoming  Greeks decide to have an election to see who gets the armor  Odysseus wins by bribing the Greeks Ajax so angered/humiliated by the loss  decides to murder all the Greeks who voted against him  Athena intervenes, made him hallucinate to think he's killing them, but he's really cutting up  sheep  all the Greeks he wanted to kill are standing over him  decides to commit suicide  Odysseus emerges as the new hero  Odysseus  need to wrap up Trojan War  Greeks need 3 things to win son of Achilles  Neoptolemus  has to come to Troy bow of Heracles  palladium  statue of Athena in a temple in Troy
