Reflection on Cultural Differences It isn’t surprising that different cultures will negotiate in different ways. The world is full of a vast diversity of people and it would be hard to believe that we all were the same or negotiated the same way. Perhaps what I found most interesting in these readings on cultural differences was all the misunderstandings that can take place just by not know about the other culture. Americans tend to want to make contracts rather than build relationships. Relationships are obviously very important and Americans do look to create and maintain relationships, but it is surprising that is isn’t typically their biggest goal. Us Americans are also very culture insensitive and think that our way is always the best. However, it is important to know that there is not right or wrong was, but what is best in every situation will be different. What I can take form these readings is that Americans for the most part have a positive style of negotiating that have good characteristics. These include, but are not limited to, being candid and straight forward, looking for mutual gain, being very well prepared, clear and effective explanations are substantially
