Chapter 3 New Terms and Concepts The following terms were introduced in this chapter. You should be able to define and explain each term and, where appropriate, describe how each term is related to other terms on the list. central tendency: A statistical measure that identifies a single score(usually a central value) to serve as a representative for the entire group. mean: The value obtained when the sum of the scores is divided by the number of scores.
