Class Topics ECE 162 Chapter 01 – Introduction Lecture 01.2 FUNDAMENTALS OF MICROELECTRONIC DEVICES The goals of this class are • To understand the many properties of the semiconductors, metals, and insulators used in manufacturing integrated circuits, • To understand how microelectronic devices are manufactured, • To understand the operation of microelectronic devices, • To learn how physics-based models of microelectronic devices are developed, • To learn about the static, dynamic, and small-signal models of microelectronic devices, and • To develop a fundamental understanding of which device properties determine the static, dynamic, and small-signal performance of integrated circuits, and • To understand how to develop the compact device models used in SPICE circuit simulations.
