Unformatted text preview: Selena On November 13, 2009, I decided to watched Selena at approximately eight in the evening in my dorm with the company of my roommate. Directed by Gregory Nava in 1997 and played by the famously known vocalist Jennifer Lopez, Selena is a biographical film of the career and life of Selena Quintanilla- Perez. A Mexican- American singer who had been called, “The Queen of Tejano Music, this film follows the emotional life of Selena who now remains a cultural icon representing someone who was proud of her roots which were then presented through her music. Upon watching this film, I did not expect to appreciate and enjoy the film as much as I did. But to my surprise, I ended up genuinely loving this film as the movie also offered a touching romantic subplot of the personal life of Selena and her husband Chris Perez. Although I am aware that not all aspects of the movie are one-hundred percent accurate, that did not take away from the emotional attachment one gains for the amazing vocalist, Selena, as she was loved...
