The Struggle in the Fields, Chicano! For the documentary portion of my journal, I decided to reflect on The Struggle in the Fields, Chicano! as I watched it on Thursday November, 5 2009. I chose this documentary because I was very interested in ideas they presented as it revealed how Mexican-American fought for the ideals they believed in without being overcome by the many obstacles preventing them from achieving their goals. Right from the beginning of the documentary, I knew that it was going to be intensely filled with occurrences that happened in the past that helped change the course of the future for thousands of Mexican- Americans living a life of inequality. Moreover, this documentary revealed the struggles as well and the accomplishments of a culture that stood for what they believed in and fought endlessly for their rights. A part that stuck out to me the most was when the life story of Caesar Chavez was being told. A leading figure who lead the Delano Grape Strike and organized farm workers
