Case 1: -Dr. has patient who is in rock band. She had a surrogate carry her child, so she didn't have to take the time out of her carrier. *if you don't have the time to carry your child, you do not have the time to raise child *this allows women to have more choices *Kant= now women have a new found autonomy (feminists agree with this) against-burden is still on a woman pro- allow women to be compensated for this (get $$), which allows women to have more authority (can be similar to prostitution) Can just anyone reproduce? How do we approach this issue ? -what are we defining family to be - what should the structure of our family ought to be *look at nature= natural law theorist *whatever is best for that specific family *children are part of the state and good for the society= Plato's view *Plato = family is nonexistent because they take the kids away from the parents, and parents do not know who their kids are -might respect and regard all adults are their parent, so they treat them better
