Although Allen Lopez used his civil right to freedom of speech, his employer has legitimate reasons to limit its employee’s civil rights when it comes to protecting their integrity and their well-being and because of this obligation there are no legitimate business reasons for an employer to tolerate dissent and criticism like that Allen has shown. (Thiroux, p. 362) When someone is hired on as a part of a company, they accept the unwritten ethical obligation to uphold their position inside and outside the company as a dedicated and loyal employee. They agree to address problems within the company and not outside like on a website as Allen chose to. When the problems came to Allens attention about how the employees were being treated, he should have gone to his supervisor and addressed his problems with them. If he felt that, the problems were not being solved then he should go higher up and continue up the ladder until they are solved. Eventually his problems will be seen to and solved.
