AK/ADMS 2511 Sample Final Examination Questions –– Page 2 Student Number: _______________________ Name: ________________________ Question 1 (27 marks – 65 minutes) Burton Plumbing Supplies Ltd. (BPS) is a wholesale and retail distributor of plumbing, heating, ventilation, air conditioning and industrial pipe, valves and fittings, in operation since 1965. Public showrooms located at some of the distribution centres also display a recently expanded product line of plumbing fixtures, faucets and accessories for bathrooms and kitchens. BPS has many long-term industrial, institutional and commercial customers. There are also many walk-in and occasional customers such as homeowners and small renovation businesses. Customers have always been able to come into the distribution centres to purchase products in person, or place purchase orders by mail, telephone or fax. BPS will deliver merchandise to customers or its customers can easily pickup their orders at many strategically located distribution centres throughout Ontario. Recently, BPS implemented a website that allows customers to place orders, check stock availability and prices, and review account and order status. The website includes several ways to search for information so customers don’t need to learn BPS's product code numbers. Customer profiles can even be customized to include customers' product codes, making ordering much easier for long-term customers. Direct links to manufacturers' web sites are also available so customers can download literature and product specifications on selected products. Products that are not available through BPS can then be ordered directly from a manufacturer, with BPS receiving a commission. Using the website, major industrial, institutional and commercial customers often configure large product orders in formats other than standard quantities. BPS will specially price these unusual orders for their valued customers. Required: A) Describe the three electronic commerce (e-commerce) business models listed below and provide examples from the case that illustrate each. (6 marks) • Online direct marketing • Affiliate marketing • Product customization ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ AK/ADMS 2511 Sample Final Examination Questions –– Page 3 Student Number: _______________________...
