2 Google There were many principles that Google followed in developing Googld.cn. Google had to comply with the laws of China. Google wanted to make sure that the results of Googld.cn had reasonable service for Both China and other users. “Self- censorship, like that which we are now required to perform in China, is something that conflicts deeply with our core principles.” (Martin, 2009, pg.13) Google did not want to violate any of the basic principles; these principles were confirmed in the constitution. Google felt that they could compromise their principles and give the more information to the Chinese, they wanted to be different and serve them effectively. Google kept their core principles, but they slightly changed the specifics to adjust to the laws of China. The Deontology theory shows that People should adhere to their obligations.
