Zach Holsbrook 2007-04-22 Subtlety than Action The staging of the Prometheus Bound by the classic stage company made some changes compared to the original version by Aeschylus. This seems to be mainly due to the producer of the play that might wanted to give different characters to the play. It seems that the producer mainly changed element of how the figures act compared to the original version of the Prometheus Bound to give more subtlety to the play. The first change that appeared is when Prometheus is initially bounded by the chains. According to the l.178 of the original version, it is clear that he is speaking his thought at the same time he is also trying to break off the chain. However in the play he only speaks his words after attempting to break off the chain. The reason of this is probably to give more static feeling to the play. The original version of the play is not quite active, considering that the play takes place beside Prometheus who is bounded by the chain for whole times, but the
