Explode Your Squat by Andy Bolton and Elliot Newman © 2011, All Rights Reserved 5Chapter 1: Introduction The Squat has long been considered the “King of Exercises” by experienced Powerlifters, Bodybuilders, Athletes and Gym Rats alike. There are many reasons for this, and whilst there are other exercises that are great for developing absolute strength, the squat is deserved of its unofficial title. The Squat will develop total body strength and works the posterior chain (Lower Back, Glutes and Hamstrings) and Quads in particular very hard. As you will see in this book, different squat techniques will hit different muscle groups slightly harder than others. However, one thing is for sure; if you master your squat technique and then train the squat with purpose and intensity, you will be rewarded with bigger, stronger legs (not to mention an improved total if you are a Powerlifter).
