Handout 1 It has come to most people’s mind that Industrial informatics are heavy industrial related area, but no! What are we going to do in this course? Introducing techniques for solving wide range of practical IT/engineering problems using Artificial Intelligence methods; not design circuit. I don’t need you to work on programming. But if you can program, it is better. If you can’t, it is okey. Or you can improve (if u like) for better job hunting.

We must ask ourselves that what are the current industries and the future industries in HK! There are more IT, and commerce related work. The most updated technologies usually employ soft-computing technique that includes: Classifier Some AI techniques, i.e., graph, neural networks, self-organizing map, Searching/optimization techniques, Clustering, and their applications to general IT/engineering problems will be introduced.

We can consider the followings as examples demonstrating why AI/NN is used -Crowd determination problem. -Fault diagnosis and prognostic problem: important and very cost effective technique for huge system analysis, analog circuit fault diagnosis, and many industrial plants fault diagnosis.
