William Fu Major Paper revision (Elizabeth) Malhotra English 131 A7 Returning to the Sovereign Nation of Hawaii does and does not address its audience properly. This paper is not appropriate for its audience because of the emphasis on pathos. Many times in this paper it returns to the thought of right or wrong in the displacement of the Hawaiian natives. While having pathos in a paper does make it stronger, too much of pathos takes away from the credibility and academic appeal. An example would be the sentence “We easily could’ve fixed it over 100 years ago by doing what was right instead of… best for our country…” On the other hand the diction and tone used was engaging and fitting for the intended audience. An example would be “… one cannot possibly take that as a valid surrender of sovereignty.” This concluded a supporting paragraph and says in short: that there is definitely wrong. The paper uses outside texts very well. There are constant signs of ethos by introducing
