Question 16 : De Landa proposed that anti-market practices (hierarchies) have  become too prominent, that we would do well to encourage more self-organizing  markets (meshworks). In the old state-centered assemblage (1930s to 1970s), so- called nanny states were held responsible for providing for the marginalized. In  the new so-called free market assemblage (1980s to the present), investments are  made in “human capital”. Though big businesses often benefit the most from free  markets and the retrenchment of the interventionist state, drawing on Ferguson’s  essay on neoliberalism explain how self-organizing markets can be encouraged in  the contemporary situation. Intro  De Landa , that we would do well to encourage more self-organzing markerts, as to have  assemblages that will take off.  In post WWII   “nanny states” responsible for providing for the disenfranchised with  economic crisis of the 70’s   retrenchment of the welfare state. It is replaced with neo- liberalism. Investments are made in “human capital.”  1- Neoliberalism  Ferguson reflects that we should not see only see  “the anti” in the new world system  which is very much in vogue today (anti-globalization, anti-neoliberalism, anti- privatization, anti-imperialism, anti-Bush even anti-capitalism). We should focus more  are attention in where we can put a “pro.”
