Culture and Globalization: As time goes on, generations have faced less and less cultural distance o Singapore has very little cultural distance from San Francisco. o A global culture appears to be emerging, bt what is it made of? American? Melting Pot? Linguistic Diversity: Humans are different from other creatures in that we make tools, and communicate o What 1 person learns, communities learn, which then everyone learns Culture is the transition of learned behavior North America has heavy experience with the extinction of Language o 600 languages have died out in the last 200 years (all of which were pre-literate) o As the people died, then the language died with them Any language that lacks a script will probably die out within 50 years. Laos:50-60 languages will die out in 50 years Language lacks a script, and the English Language is becoming more affluent o All educated people in the World speak English
