Turning American Electrical’s Environmental Crisis into Positive Public Relations Prepared for Mr. Walter Martinson CEO, American Electrical Marietta, Georgia Prepared By Aleksandar Sobot, Technical Writer American Electrical Marietta, Georgia December 7, 0000 To: Mr. Walter Martinson CEO American Electrical From: Aleksandar Sobot, Technical Writer Date: December 7, 0000 Subject: Report Outlining the Actions to be Taken Regarding the Environmental Crisis Here is the report you and Todd McLemore authorized outlining how American Electrical should proceed in dealing and reacting to the findings of the Georgia Department of Environmental Protection (GDEP). Also, this report has actions regarding the concerns of the drinking water in the immediate area. As you know, GDEP has discovered 25 barrels of waste specifically containing PCB’s improperly stored by Wiregrass Disposal and Multi-Phase Equipment and American Electrical are left to clean up the mess both literally and figuratively. The public may connect this to the odour and funny taste in the drinking water even though PCBs are not water soluble and the damage from the site has not spread beyond its initial area. The best way that has been discovered to deal with this crisis is to present an open and honest look to the public, and offer information and answers to the public’s questions in a variety of outlets. Specifically, American Electrical should immediately call a press release to outline the findings and stress the fact that the PCBs/improper dumping practices have nothing to do with American Electrical or how the company is run. Furthermore, an official statement to shareholders should be posted on the company’s websites as well as having a phone ‘hotline’ to answer any concerns anyone may have about American Electrical’s position. Some of the information in this report was concluded through research done about PCBs and the effects of algae on drinking water. Additionally, some resources were used to prescribe how to converse with the public positively. They are referenced at the end of the report. Thank you for the opportunity to write this report. I’ve enjoyed offering my views and findings on how to deal with this environmental crisis. If you have any questions than please don’t hesitate to come and talk to me or email me at my company email....
