The vocabulary spurt I Vocabulary spurt refers to the “naming  explosion” that occurs when toddlers  suddenly change the rate of their word  learning From one word at a time to 8-11 words per  month Then 22-37 Then the vocabulary spurt

The vocabulary spurt II Child needs a critical mass of words  before vocabulary spurt occurs. There is no agreement as to how many  words should form the base: 30?, 50?, 50  – 100? There is also no agreement as to whether  all children experience vocabulary spurt or  how it should be measured (weekly?  Monthly?)
