Objective: This experiment mainly has two objectives, which are: 1. To determine the amount of copper in the unknown solution in ppm. 2. To determine the ppm concentration of H 2 SO 4 .5H 2 O. Theory: In electro gravimetric methods, an electric current is used to deposit the sought metal on a platinum electrode in mast cases the metal is deposited on a weighed platinum cathode and its amount determined from the increase in weight. Mixture of divalent metal ions, can be separated quantitatively by an electro deposition procedure, as long as their standard electro deposition potential differ by at least 0.2 volts.
