OBJECTIVE: - To determine the concentrations of chromium (III) and cobalt (II) in a two component mixture by using spectrophotometer. Theory: - The proportionality relationship between the absorbance of a substance and its concentration is A = ЄbC A = kC Where, k is the absorptive constant The total absorbance of the solution at some wavelengths λ1 and λ2 is the some of the individual absorbencies. That is, A1 = k A λ1 C A +k B λ1 C B A2 = k A λ2 C A +k B λ2 C B PROCEDURE: - 1) Cobalt nitrate of 0.1880 M & 0.500 chromium nitrates were prepared. 2) Three diluting solution 5ml, 10ml, 20ml,of these two compound are prepared. And their moralities are calculated 3) The spectrometer was used to find the concentration of each ion.
