Assignment: Letter to a European Philosopher To: Albert Camus Dear Albert Camus I would first like to say that I find your ideas and views very interesting. They really make my mind think hard about people and the world. I find it very inspiring that you came from a very trying and underprivileged situation in your childhood to gain a great opportunity to attend a prestigious high school and from there in a sense make a name for yourself in your work. You have a very interesting philosophical question, “is there any reason not to commit suicide?” You also have unique beliefs such as people live their whole lives in “stupid self-confidence” and that we live in solitary existence in which relationships are matters of convention rather than of mutual sharing and understanding and we live our whole lives without seeing things as they really are. While I do in a sense agree that people in this era live their lives
