It follows the life of four college students living in the small community of Peña Blanca, Guatemala, with only one dollar a day. The documentary began as research, depicting how families living under poverty managed finances, living expenses, school, etc.. However, the message changed when the students interviewed community members. Although still depicting the effects of poverty, the documentary emphasized the good within everybody. Many of the villagers represented in the documentary had little or nothing to give; but they were willing to give it all for anybody in need. Living On One Dollar advocates for the sacrifices that everybody must make, large or small, in order to make the world a more enjoyable place. 2.Living on One Dollar has a variety of meanings. The beginning on Living on One Dollar establishes the terrible living conditions in Peña Blanca, Guatemala. Harsh whether, small huts, and no money, the villagers struggled to survive with less than one dollar a day. As the documentary progressed, the filmmakers interviewed several villagers in Peña Blanca, asking to describe their daily struggles. All the villagers told stories of the sacrifices they make everyday tomake sure their family eats, and their children attend school. The ending of the documentary is
