Unformatted text preview: ECE 483 Design Project In this project, we will design controller C ( s ) for the above sampled-data control system. The sample period is T = 0 . 5 s. The plant transfer function is assumed to be G p ( s ) = s + 10 s ( s + 1)(3 s + 1) . The data hold is the zero-order data hold. Please include printouts of all Matlab codes and plots in your writeup. In addition, in seperate sheets, outline your detailed design procedures. 1 Uncompensated System By consulting transform tables or using the Matlab command c2d , find G ( z ) = Z bracketleftbigg 1- e sT s G p ( s ) bracketrightbigg . Assuming no compensation D ( z ) = 1, find the close-loop transfer function C ( z ) R ( z ) (using e.g. the Matlab command feedback ) Plot the step response and the ramp response of the uncompensated closed-loop system (using e.g. the Matlab commands step, impulse ). Is the closed-loop system stable? 2 Root Locus Design Plot the root locus of the uncompensated system (using e.g. the Matlab command rlocus ). Design a controller D ( z ) so that the closed-loop system meets the following requirements: (i) Step response has a maximum overshoot less than 15%; (ii) Step response either has a settling time (5% criterion) less than 6 seconds, or has a...
