ENGR3300U – Integrated Manufacturing Systems Lecture 08 CNC Lathe Programming Part II Today’s lecture: G94 – canned cycle for facing, G90 – canned cycle for turning G71, G72, G70 – turning cycles, facing cycles and finished cycle In class exercise – sample program part #O30 G94 – canned cycle for facing “G94” is regularly used for end facing rough stock material, or whenever repetitive machining of straight cuts in the “X-axis” are required. Another G-code such as G00, G01, G02, G03 or G28 will cancel the cycle. See handout about G94 for details G90 – canned cycle for longitudinal turning “G90” is used for repetitive machining of straight cuts in the “Z” axis. Another G-code such as G00, G01, G02, G03 or G28 will cancel the cycle. G90 can be used to reducing a part down to size “outer diameter (O.D.)” or Boring “internal diameter Boring (I.D.)”. Parting tool spec: tool # = T1212, Speed = 200, Max speed = 1000, Feed = 0.003 rev/min Machining instructions: (a) Use turning tool and canned cycle-facing (G94) to clean up the right end of part (b) Bring tool to 0.05 right of part and .05 above part (c) Reduce diameter of cylinder, taking a 0.05 depth cut with each turn and leaving 0.01 of material from part using canned turning cycle (G90). (d) Bring tool to lead-in position (e) Make the final cut to profile (f) Change to parting tool (g) Use parting tool to make chamfer at left of part as well as to cut of the part.
