Brittney Bryson MGT/210 April 10, 2011 Week 5: Assignment Exercise 10-2: OJT        Incorporating an orientation and training program for new employees of a company is important, prior to  beginning their new job as salesclerks. In an orientation and training program, it is important to review and  explain safety procedures, company policies and procedures, and company goals to new employees. Inviting  new employees to an orientation and training program is critical to their career in working for the retail  company. Starting a new job at a new company can be exciting and fun, however, all of that can quickly be  dashed if proper orientation and training procedures are not in place. “Good, well-planned orientation  p. 177. Being confused and frustrated on the first day, along with nerves can mean the difference in whether  a person will continue to come to work and enjoy there jobs and can be easily bettered by a good first day  with a company. Having a layout of what exactly needs to be done to start at the company and knowing how  each day will fall into the training schedule.  I have laid out a three day plan of how each new sales clerk will be trained.  Orientation – Day One      1. Welcome new employees.      2. Introduction of department managers.      3. Brief history of the company.      4. Employee expectations.      5. Explanation of job duties and responsibilities.      6. Policies and procedures.      7. Questions      8. Tour of store (i.e. break room, layout of floor, etc)

Day One is set up to help calm the nerves and anxiety of the new employee; it gives an overview of  the company and our history. The new salesclerk will be introduced to all the managers and be given the  employee hand book, procedures and company policies. Through the efficiency of our training program, we  will establish the policies regarding attendance and customer interaction while instilling the excitement and  rewarding aspects of the job when customer satisfaction is accomplished.  We will be conducting most of our
