STRC 1111 Term Topic Question Criteria Early in the semester you will need to choose a term topic and write a term topic question. Your term topic question is the basis for each of the three major speeches you will present this semester (i.e. informative, persuasive, policy) as well as your annotated bibliography and issues analysis. Examples of term topic questions are: Should the United States immediately withdraw all combat forces from Afghanistan? Should Pennsylvania legalize medical marijuana? Should Philadelphia implement a "soda tax"? These are all examples of public issues and public policies. They require public deliberation and focus on specific policies that can be enacted, amended, or abandoned. There are seven criteria a term topic question should meet. 1. It is a question. Term topic questions are always posed to the audience as “Should…?” * You are asking the audience “Should we take a particular course of action for the betterment of our community?” 2. It deals with an existing or potential disagreement over public policy. * You are not asking about whether we should have done something. We cannot change the past. However, you can suggest a course of action to fix an existing problem or avoid a potential problem .

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
