STRC 1111 Issues Analysis Assignment: The goal of this assignment is to prepare you for Speech 4 (Proposition of Fact) and Speech 5 (Proposition of Policy) as well as introducing you to the fundamental skill of making an informed argument. In addition, you should be familiar with the different sides or perspectives that inform your term topic. The foundation of democracy is informed debate. A well informed speaker is better able to articulate his or her own political perspective as well as respond to those that disagree with him or her. Criteria : You are to identify and describe at least three (3) major issues relevant to your term topic about which there is disagreement. Each entry should identify the issue, identify the parties who disagree, briefly explain the arguments on both sides of the issue, and cite your sources of information. In order to organize your analysis of the relevant major issues, an Issues Analysis grid is provided for you to complete. A blank Issues Analysis grid is available on Blackboard. You need to provide a works cited page that reflects the specific sources you used to complete the assignment.
